Cannot open links

When trying to open an attachment, i.e. *wmv I get the following error message.

"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."

I have gone to control panel and Folder Options and inserted *wmv but it
still does not work.

What happens when you save (extract) the attachment from the e-mail and save
it to a file on the hard disk and then double-click on that .wmv *file*?
Does a player load to show the video?

When going into WMP's options, is the wmv filetype assigned to WMP? Or did
you perhaps install some other player software that stole that filetype?
Just what player program did you expect to load to view the video file?

Downloading it to the desktop, it asks what I want to open it. Replying MS
Media, it does open. Is there a setting I am missing?

Media, it does open. Is there a setting I am missing?

When you right-click to select a program, use the Browse button to select
the program and then remember to select the checkbox to remember your
choice. Or just go into WMP's filetype options and assign the wmv filetype
to WMP (or select all the listed filetypes to be associated to WMP if you
want WMP to play them all).
