cannot open mpp file

Microsoft project error message: 'the operation cannot be completed because
the source file contains invalid project data or the total number of rows
would exceed 1,048,000...'

The project is 100 tasks in total. total number of rows cannot be 1 million.
the file size is 204 kb

invalid project data is unlikely because it saved once, then threw above
error after changing the description of 1 task

using microsoft project 2007 on windows 7 professional

It sounds like you have a corrupt file. Unfortunately if you can't even
open it, there's not a whole lot you can do other than revert to your
last saved version, obviously one that does open.

If you can mange to get the errant file open, go to our MVP website at,
http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm, and take a look at FAQ 43 - Handling
Project file corruption and/or bloat.

I agree with John. Make sure you have SP2 installed, the release version of
Project 2007 was very bug ridden.
