Cannot Open Multiple Instances of Excel

I cannot open more than one instance of Excel from my MS
Office Shortcut Bar, yet I can open more than one instance
if I open Excel from my Programs menu or the Excel
shortcut icon on my desktop. Any ideas? Thanks.

The one on the Office Shortcut Bar probably has "/recycle" in the command
line.

Thanks for your reply. But the command does not have any
parameters in it. I thought maybe removing the "%1" from
the XLS file type settings might also do the trick - no
go. Strange thing is that this does work fine on some
workstations....Thanks

Maybe just starting excel and
tools|options|General|and check "ignore other applications"

In xl2k and above, you can open one instance of excel and have multiple icons on
the windows taskbar. That option is under:

Tools|options|view|check Windows in Taskbar.
