Alan Robinson

Installed the office technical refresh yesterday and everything appeared fine.
Today I tried to open excel doduments and it said
"This error may appear because an anti virus program is not allowing the
file to open"
I tried opening my access documents and nothing loads (doesn't even attempt
to)
Word documents tell me the "document is not available". Even if I create a
word document it tells me the same thing.
In between beta 2 and tr I installed a the new Norton Anti Virus 2007 and
yesterday after loading the tr I installed the desktop search 3 beta.
Has anyone any clues because I am desperate.
Many thanks,
Alan.

Hi Alan,

On the Microsoft Office 2007 Beta 2 Technical Referesh Page

http://officebeta.iponet.net/en-us/products/FX101517941033.aspx
[page access requires the ActiveX control from link below or Off2007 beta install]

one of the known ones is the use of the Norton Antivirus Plugin for Office as a known problem. If you disable the plugin in the
miscellaneous category in the Norton settings then restart the Office apps do you still get the same problem?

Hi all,

I was having this same problem. Turning of the Office Plugin in NAV
Miscellaneous options did the trick. Thanks, Bob.

If you are using Norton AV then go to Norton Options and in the
Miscellaneous section turn off "Enable Office Plug-in".

If you are not using Norton but it was previously installed then the
DLL for the plug-in could still be registered.

Search for officeav.dll and if found go to Start/Run and run the
following command:

regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll"

In the above example the path for "Officeav.dll" would depend on the
location of the DLL.
