Cannot Open OrgChart

Hello All,
One of my clients cannot open an orgchart to modify it from powerpoint 2000.
Office 2000Pro disk 1 was loaded from our server and loaded to "run all from
my computer". I have looked on google at the website given for what seems
to be the answers to this problem to no avail. All permissions are fine, i
tried to rename the msoclip and msoprefs files to open orgchart and I still
get the same error. "Microsoft Powerpoint can't start the application
required to open this object, an error occurred and this feature is no
longer functioning properly. Would you like to repair this feature now?"
And of course it doesnt fix the problem. I did try Microsofts repair which
also did not work. This client does have extensive clip art and fonts on
this machine. Is this the actual cause? Should I try an Office reinstall?
I have seen that it doesnt repair the problem on google groups I'm out of
clues!
It does have OrgChart 2.0.

Thanks for any Responses in Advance

Yes, too many fonts can be an issue. But so can other stuff. I'd probably
suspect Norton Antivirus, if you're using that.

Did you do the "read/write, but not delete" permissions thing?

Problems with Organization Chart (OrgChart)

and

Can't edit Org Chart, Graph, Excel (error msg: "server application, source
file, or item can't be found")

are probably the most comprehensive resources to check.

Thank You for your response. Yes those are the websites I looked at. And
yes the permissions are all set on her local machine for full control. Not
sure what to try next. I believe I will try an uninstall and reinstall of
disk1 to see if it helps. Can't hurt! I think it is the quantity of clips
and fonts. I cant uninstall these because she does the promotions for the
company. Well I will try the uninstall thing and let you know what happens.

Thanks Again!

You don't have to *delete* the fonts, just move them out of her fonts
folder. Heck, do it just to see if that actually fixes the problem. You can
always move them back and let the problem continue to exist.

If she uses that many fonts, she needs a type manager utility anyway. I
mean, how long does it take for Illustrator to open on her machine? (That's
another program affected by the number of fonts installed.)

I dont know the answer to that question. I'll have to see and I will try
your suggestion before uninstall and reinstall.

Thank You Again

I have found she has 550 fonts in her c:\windows\fonts folder. Mine for
example has 259. Is there any particular place to put them or does it not
matter?

Thanks Again!
