Cannot open Outlook 2007 Meeting Request in 2003

We have an issue here with a user running Outlook 2003. He has
received several meeting requests from users running Outlook 2007. The
meeting requests come in as an attachment with a .att extension. There
is no way for him to open this request or accept the meeting. He is
forced to manually enter the meeting on his calendar and then send an
email reply to the meeting organizer with his acceptance of the
meeting.

Is there a fix for this? Or maybe just something we are not seeing?
