cannot open Outlook after upgrading to 2003

I recently upgraded from Office2000 to Office 2003 and am
having trouble opening Outlook. The error reads , "the
name could not be resolved. the connection to microsoft
exchange server is unavailable. Outlook must be online. I
have tried changing the exchange server name with an ip
address but still it doesn't work.

Even uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003 but still
getting the same error.

Would greatly appreciate your help.

How do you connect to your email?
Are you on a home ISP/at a business with a exchange server/use http(hotmail)
This would help in the troubleshooting
