Cannot Open Outlook-XP .PST Legacy Files in Outlook-2007

I am running Outlook-2007 (in MS Office 2007) on Windows 7 Home Edition. When
I tried to open legacy .PST files, I received the error message ...

Tools.pst is not a valid Win32 application.

I don't have a precise reference to which edition of Outlook generated these
files, but it was probably Outlook XP running on Windows XP. Is there a fix
for this?

You have to open pst files within Outlook
File>Open>Data File......browse to the location
(The pst should be located, ideally, on your PC in eg the Documents folder)
