cannot open pdf files in outlook 2003

I cannot open pdf files that are attachments in Outlook. I am running Win XP
Pro w/sp2..Outlook 2k3...Adobe 6.0 Pro. Pdf files are associated with adobe
in folder options\file types...When I click on the attachment Adobe doesn't
even launch. Any ideas?
