Cannot open ppts built on Office 2008

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Hi,

If I save a ppt in Office 2008 for mac as Powerpoint 97-2007 format, then I try to open the same file in Parallels with MS Office 2003 for windows it says that it cannot read that file. File is not corrupted as I can still open in Office 2008.

Anybody any idea?

Office apps prior to 2007/2008 do not have the inherent ability to read the
later fie format. Your installation of 2003 needs to be updated for the OXML
Converters that enable Office apps prior to 2007/2008 to access them.
