Cannot open project from database after save within MSP2007-HELP!!!

This is very strange. I was testing an enterprise field I had added
and decided to create a project using that enterprise field. I'm
pretty sure the first thing I did was insert the enterprise column
into the view I had open for the project.

I saved the project to the database, closed the project and MSP2007,
then opened MSP2007 and attempted to open the project previously saved
in the database.

When the open dialog box opened up, the project was listed there, but
when I attempted to open it, there was an error message indicating
that it either wasn't saved properly, blah, blah, and suggested that I
open if offline. Well, that worked, but I really do need to test the
capability of saving a project to the database and then opening it
from the database.

Please help! How can this be fixed within our test environment?

Oh, also...

Right now for our test environment, we're using a "hybrid" I guess.
Using local accounts on the server and using Windows Authentication to
authenticate against those local accounts (our Active Directory isn't
quite prime time ready). Due to that and the fact that we aren't on
the same domain, typically we supply the domain name as a prefix when
logging in (e.g., "PROJSS\USERNAME". Low and behold, the system
allows me to login without the prefix, but when I save another project
that way (by the way, I can't open that one back up either), there is
a DIFFERENT project list displaying, depending on whether or not I
logged into the database via MSP2007 with or without the domain prefix
- SAME USERID.

Any help on either of these (especially the fact that I can't open the
dang projects once saved).
