Cannot open resource pool in Ms Pro 2007

Hello,

I would like to open the resource pool en MS Pro 2007 like I used to in MS
Pro 2003(Tools | Enterprise Options | Open Enterprise Resource pool).

It seems the resource pool would only open in Web Access and I don't find it
very suitable for editing/importing resources.

Is it normal behaviour in 2007 or am I missing something.

Thanks in advance

No, this is normal behavior. Opening the resources through the PWA Resource
Center page gives you a lot more power in filtering and grouping resources
before you open them in the Enterprise Resource Pool. So, this
functionality is a good thing, although it takes a little time to get
comfortable with it. One major oversight in the process, however, is that
you cannot edit the Default Assignment Owner and Timesheet Manager fields in
the Enterprise Resource Pool in Project Professional 2007. You must set
these values for each resource by editing them in the Resource Center. Hope
this helps.

Thanks Dale,

Let's see if I understand:
I must select the desired resources in the resource center and then, open
them in MS Pro? OK, I can live with that, but I would need your help with
something else if you don't mind:

It seems I cannot open MS Pro from PWA: neither from the resource center,
nor the projet center. I cannot configure the enterprise global or any
calendars either(from PWA or MS Pro directly).

Here's the message I get (I'm translating from french here...): "Impossible
to execute the operation because Microsoft Office Project Professional must
be installed. Make sure Microsoft Project is installed on this computer and
that a profile of this server exists". Problem is MS Pro is installed since I
can create, publish, update projects on the server.

We tried to reinstall MS Pro with no effect.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance.

Usually the cause of this is that the URL in PWA is not the same as the URL
used in the Project Server login account in Microsoft Project Professional.
Let that and let us know what you find.

Dale,

you were right...once again.

I was working on a virtual machine, and the URL in the account was not the
same as the PWA URL. I created a new account with the right URL and it worked
like a charm.

Thanks a lot!!!
