The desktop shortcut has been removed from Office 2003. Do a search on google or these NGs for instructions to install, or contact Dell to find out what happened to it.

Microft took it out of 2003. When I had 2003 on trial, I made a system
shortcut bar to replace it. I actually found I liked a system shortcut bar
better than the Office shortcut bar after a while.

I have now gone back to Office XP because 2003 was so full of bugs and
annoyances, but I have kept the System shortcut bar and no longer use the
Office shortcut bar in XP either.

Another NSF. This is an FAQ. Had you spent the time you spent posting
searching for an answer you wouldn't be receiving replies like this. But I
guess your mother still does everything for you too, so you expect the same
from everyone.

I was told by Microsoft Tech. Support that they did not
put an Office tool bar in the 2003 version. Reason you
have the new Office Document in the Start Menu.
