Recently, when I try to open Word 2000 (running Windows XP), I get the
following error message: "'Visual C++ Runtime Library' and Runtime
error! This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an
unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more
info." I cannot open Word whatsoever and I have tried using the
'winword.exe/a' method to troubleshoot, but even that won't open
it. Please help, I am a little computer saavy, so feel free to give me
up to and including any complicated help advice you can think of.
Thanks.

okay i got the winword.exe /a to open up word, now what? some other
things I've tried include uninstalling and reinstalling Word, which did
not work, starting in Safe Mode, and troubleshooting by opening up Word
under my Owner settings.

Well, here's what I tried that INCREDIBLY worked for me and got Word to
open. I had to modify the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\PDFMaker.OfficeAddin
changing the subkey called "LoadBehavior" from a value of 3 to 0. I
can't remember where I saw this posted at (it may have been here or the
MVP Faq site) either way, it seems to have fixed the problem for now.
If anyone can offer any other solutions should I encounter this probelm
again, please do. Thanks!
