cannot open word 2000

Yesterday my Word 2000 started acting up and no matter
what I try it won't open. When I click on the icon to
open it, the Word logo (splash screen) comes up, but
nothing happens. I have to end up restarting my
computer. I have tried reinstalling it, but its still the
same problem.
