Cannot Open Word 2000SR-1

All of a sudden I cannot open Word. All other programs in
Microsof Wlrks Suite 2001 work find. I have tried the
repair option on the disk that came with my computer. It
said it worked, but the problem persisted. I tried
uninstalling and reinstalling Word but nothing helps.

My computer system tools all say that I have 80% memory
free. I have run all the defrag and cleanups and dumped
temp. internet files.

I have some problems with Internet explorer and often have
to use Netscape to access web sites. I don't think this is
related, but who knows? I am not online when trying to
open Word.

The messages I get are:
The System is dangerously low in resources,
Explorer caused a general protection fault in module
USER.EXE (then a bunch of numbers),
<unknown> caused a stack fault in module <unknown> at (then
a bunch of numbers).

you're starting Word from the Works Task Launcher, you'll also probably want
to uninstall the Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word.

Mary, did you find a solution? I am having the same
problem. I am guessing that we have some type of virus. If
you did, please let me know at (e-mail address removed).
