CANNOT OPEN WORD 97 RUNNING ON WINDOWS 98

I

Ian Dibbs

System has been running well for 4 years with no problems
until the weekend when I received an error message DLL
File MSO 97.DLL not found. Due to the large amount of
email we receive I decided to run our virus checker Norton
Anti Virus (No Virus Found) however problem still
persisted so removed word and reloaded, I then found that
Publisher would not recognise a Word Address List so I
decided to start from scratch and delete and reload both
Word and Publisher. I now cannot open Word as I get 2
error messages DLL File MSO 97.DLL not found and Winword
exe not found, any ideas?? I have traced both of these
items to C:\program files\applications and application
ext. Any ideas how I can get Word to open as it used to.
Any help would be appreciated

A missing winword.exe is a symptom of Klez so it's possible that
you've been infected with the virus. This article from the Symantec
site contains a removal tool and provides information on how to
determine if you are infected since it disables your virus scanner:
