Cannot open word

Can only open word by typing the path in Run. Where do I
fing the Normal.dot file so that I can fix the template
corruption? I cannot find a file with that name. I need
step by step instructions.

Normal.dot is located in Programs/Microsoft
Office/Templates. You may need to go to Windows
Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View and enable Show Hidden
Files and Folders

1. On the Start menu, choose Search | For Files or Folders.

2. In the Search Results dialog that opens, choose Tools | Folder Options.

3. On the View tab, check the radio button for "Show hidden files and
folders."

4. In "Search for files or folders named" type "Normal.dot."

5. Press the Search Now button.

6. You may get several hits, but be sure you select the one that is not a
shortcut and not an owner file (~$Normal.dot). Rename it or right-click and
choose Open to open it, depending on your needs.

These instructions are for Windows 2000. YMMV in another OS.
