Cannot paste excel into powerpoint

We are suddenly unable to paste Excel charts into powerpoint presentations.
This happens on all 80 + of our workstations. Office 2003 sp3 was recently
rolled out to all the workstaions and I suspect that this is a result. All
PC's are Win XP sp3, Office 2003 sp3 fully patched. When they try to paste a
spreadsheet into a power point or if they try double-click to edit an Excel
spreadsheet which has been inserted into PowerPoint, they get te following
errors:

1) Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost.
2) Microsoft Office PowerPoint can't start the application required to open
this object. An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning
properly. Would you like to repair this feature now? (The repair function
appears to complete, but does not resolve the problem)
3) There isn't enough memory available to read worksheet.

The same 3 errors occur over and over. I have tried a newer version of .net
(v2 sp2), I can't think of anything else to try (Office 2003 sp3 cannpt be
uninstalled). Any help would be great as I have 3 divisions trying to do
year end financial presentations for ownership and they are not very happy
that we do not have a solution.

No luck, none of these resolved the issue. One more observation it appears
to be a visual basic issue as the first error is visual basic based (error
window says Microsoft visual basic) errors 2/3 are powerpoint.

successfully paste/edit it within Powerpoint, hopefully this will get my
acounting folks through thier presentations. If you have any other
suggestions, it would be great to have it work without the work around.

Alright I found out what happened. Office 2003 sp3 resets macro security on
all powerpoint presentations to "high" when they are opened, blocking the
excel worksheet as excel checks for macros when opening hence the vb error,
so at the end of the day setting the macro security in powerpoint lower
resolves the issue. Not sure why the older ver file format helped. Thanks
for the help Echo.
