Cannot place cursor in outlook or word 2003 or open word attachmen

helpme

I am not able to place my cursor in the message body of Outlook 2003 or
anywhere in a Word 2003 document. I am also unable to open any Word
attachments from Outlook. I use Word as my email editor and noticed it no
longer auto-corrects capital letters at the beginning of sentences or when I
use proper names. I have tried to delete the data key in the regedit. When
I open a document in Safe Mode all the issues go away. Any suggestions how
to correct this problem?

Sounds like a bad third party add-in. Test by running in Safe Mode. From
Start, Run (Winkey+R), type in

winword /a

and press enter. Open a document and test for editing and closing now. If it
is OK now, then you have installed something that has placed an incompatible
add-in in Word/Office.

Note that PaperPort and \pdf maker add-ins have been prone to this problem
but there are other add-ins causing this too.
