Cannot Print from FILE-PRINT command Word97

Just installed HP Deskjet printer. I can print in Word97 from the
print icon but cannot print from FILE->PRINT command. If I try to
print from the PRINT command, which gives me the option of printing
any pages I want or a selection from a manuscript, the program shuts
down. However, if I have a document open and click on the printer icon
it will print the whole document. Any help would be greatly
appreciated...of course!
