Cannot publish http with FP2002

B

BarneyPo

I am able to publish my web site to my web host via ‘http’ from my desktop
computer using FP2002 and XP. I will be making a long trip and will need to
publish from my laptop which has the same versions of FP and Windows. So I
published the web site from my desktop to the laptop via LAN and using
‘http’. Since then all attempts to publish from the laptop have failed.

When I try to publish, the password dialog comes up showing my hidden
password, I click okay and the dialog comes back with no password??? I
reenter the password, click enter and here comes the dialog again. This time
with the hidden password. I am in a vicious loop.

Here are the things I have tried, all of which have failed:
1) Reset the FP extensions on the host’s web site
2) Changed my password
3) Uninstalled and reinstalled FP on the laptop
4) Removed all web site files and republished to the laptop.
5) Tried to download the web site from the host to the laptop

I can publish from the laptop via ‘ftp’ but then some of my forms will not
work.

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Surely something will cure this
problem.

Yes, I am running Zone Alarm but shutting it down did not cure the problem.
Thanks for you help. Any other thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Okay, now I'm trying to uninstall Zone Alarm and that won't work because it
says some other program is using True Vector. Do you have any idea what
might be using that?

Thanks for your support,

You need to visit the support/help section of Zonelabs to see the proper way
to unintstall ZoneAlarm. Or, read the help files in
Zonealarm. True Vector is part of it.

Barney:
Did you reboot after the ZA uninstall? Also, try going to My Network Places
and delete the entry for the web you are trying to open or publish to.

B

Barney

Kathleen, I did reboot but hadn't tried the deletion in My Network Places.
I have done both now and still cannot get past the password dialog. Thanks
for sticking with me on this and if you have additional thoughts on this
problem, please pass them along.

Tom, Thanks, I cleaned the registry of all "ZoneAlarm" & "Zone Labs" entries
and surprisingly the laptop still runs. Yeah. However, I still cannot
publish http from FP. Boo.

Barney: Go to www.jimcoaddins.com and download and install the free addin
"Jimco Publish Web". Use it to open and your web (it'll appear in the FP
File menu) then try publishing and see what happens.

Tom: I find an add-in titled "Selective Publish 3.0" on that site but not
one named "Jimco Publish Web". I will download and try "Selective" and if
that is not correct, I'll soon know and get back to you.

been able to find "Publish Web".

Tom, Open Web is installed and running. When I try to open the web this
error message appears "The URL / is invalid"??? My URL looks like this
"C:\Documents and Settings\Byron Poston\Local Settings\My Documents\My
Webs\Senior_ Interclub" ???? During the install of Open Web an error
message appeared which reads "Error 1911: Could not register type library
for file C:\Program Files\Open Web\OpenWeb.dll. Contact your support
personnel". At that point I chose "Ignore" so the install would complete.

Tom, And when I try to go to http://jaxsi.hypermart.net using Open Web, I
get the user name and password dialog which I cannot get beyond. Doing the
same thing with Open Web on my desktop, opens my web site with no problem.
