Cannot publish or republish project assignment

We are on Project Server 2003. I have 3 project managers who are unable to
publish new and changed assignments or republish assignments.

In all cases there was at least one resource that had been removed from one
or more tasks. When trying to publish or republish the assignments the
message 'An update has not been sent to resources....' appears. The manager
click to 'OK' to proceed and nothing happens. They can save and close the
plan but the next time they come in the same thing occurs.

Any help in resolving this issue would be appreciatied.

Thank you,

dp

Hi Debbie

We are using 2003 also and had the same problem frequently. Not being
technical at all the developers advised at the time it was a network issue
with Project Server.

Thanks Toni,

I don't think that is the problem in this case as I can publish a project
before or after the ones in question without a problem. With these, the
window that allows you to select the entire project or just selected items
never pops up.

Hi Toni & Debbie,

Could you please check if those resources have email id's setup and
what has been set against the WorkGroup column to those? Are the other
resources getting their assignment emails and task assignments on
timesheet? Also does this happen to this project alone or to most of
projects on server?

Thanks,
Ravi.

Hi Ravi,

In my case I have resources with email id's and those without. We must
maintain historical data when resources transfer so we extend the name with a
date, remove the email and nt id then create a new id with the email id and
nt id. Normally our Workgroup is Default but one of my co-workers did
change those with the date to be Microsoft Office Project Server. I am
having problem with only 3 projects out of about 250. Both the old id and
the new id are on many plans that are not having a problem. On the plan in
question none of the resources are getting their assignments as the plan
never submits to the publish. It does save.

Thanks,
Debbie

Hi!
I know this is an OLD Conversation...
Did you get a resolution to this Debbie?
We have a customer still on Project Server 2003 and they have one plan that can't be published. Save works fine though.

Would be nice to get it fixed.

Robert
