I am running a .local domain based network off 2000
server. I am required to set up NAT for my internet
connection (Satellite). I attempted to setup email through
outlook with pop3 and smtp servers through my ISP. I can
get outlook to accept the email connections directly from
the server, but I get a failure to connect to my pop3 and
smtp servers under any client machine... I have an
internet connection established under each client machine
and DCHP/NAT are holding that part down. So I am
dumbfounded that I cannot send or recieve email through
the client machines. I have checked with microsoft and
for nothing less than a $245.00 consulting fee they can't
tell me jack. I have tried to type in the IP's for the
servers in outlook and I can recieve email, but not send
email. This is due to the smtp server is a dynamic IP and
I can keep changing it every time it is assigned a new
IP. I think that NAT has a lot to due with the problem
but I see no place in configuration to bypass an outgoing
or incoming port to allow a client computer to directly
connect to remote sever for email services... Please
somebody shed some light on this before I go insane!!
Thank you in advance
