I use windows 98 with office 2000. I have two empty folders and many files wich look like ____._____.doc, _______.____.___.xls. When I try to open them a message appears "this file could not be found. Cannot read from the source file or disk." Is it true i have lost my information? Help
Thanks Lus

Those multiple dots in the file name may be the problem. I would remove all
the dots in the file names leaving spaces where they were except don't
remove the dot before "doc" and "xls" and as a precaution, run your virus
scanner over them before actually trying to open them.

I cannot rename move or delete these files. Antivirus programs say no virus detected

If you right click on the file, remove all properties concerning read only,
archive etc and then delete it if you can.
