Cannot receive email - Internal Error

Hi,
We have a user on a LAN connection, running Outlook 2003, Windows XP SP2,
McAffee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5.0i. Her email account is through Yahoo. She
has been able to receive email up until two days ago. She is curently
receiving an error message when trying to retrieve email while in Outlook.
"Your incoming (POP3) e-mail server has reported an internal error. Error
code (0x800CCC90) -ERR problem retrieving message.
She is able to send successfully.
We have tried disabling the McAffee "On Delivery E-mail Scanner". Her
Windows Firewall is disabled. Her account settings have been checked. We are
able to access her email (backdoor) through Yahoo.
Any ideas or suggestions on how to resolve this problem would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks!

That error usually indicates an authentication issue. It can mean any of the
following:

- POP3 server name
- Incoming Mail Server Account Name (some require the full e-mail
address (e-mail address removed), others just want the user part)
- Incoming Mail Server Password (often case sensitive)
- Incorrect use of Secure Password Authentication (SPA) - few severs
use this
- Incorrect use of SSL - few servers use this
- The mail server is having temporary problems

Check with Yahoo for any updated values. If the values seem correct, retype
them and click APPLY. You can also delete and recreate the Outlook mail
profile (restart the PC inbetween).
Let me know if this helps.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I had checked her settings, but had not
retyped them. I will try that next. Yahoo is our mail server and this is the
only user experiencing the problem. I did forget to mention in my initial
posting that I did "Test Account Settings" in her mail account. Everything
checked ok, but she did not receive the Test Notification (that remained in
Yahoo backdoor)

Question - if we delete her profile and recreate it, will all her retrieved
existing/saved email (Inbox, Sent Folder, etc.) be deleted?
Thanks again - I will keep you posted
