I've searched through the newsgroups already and found a few people with
my identical problem, but none of the suggested remedies worked for me.
Here's the deal:
I'm using Outlook 2000 to connect to our Exchange server. In the past, I
had it configured to connect to multiple mailboxes. My personal mailbox
was my primary, and I had 3 other additional mailboxes configured. Now,
however, I need to disconnect from those 3 additional mailboxes. No
matter what I do, those additional mailboxes keep showing up in Outlook.
I have tried numerous things, including what I have read elsewhere on the
newsgroups. These include:
1) Under Tools -> Services -> Microsoft Exchange Server -> Advanced, I
have removed them.
2) Deleted my profile completely and created a new one.
3) Edited the "Windows Messaging Subsystem" portion of the registry and
removed what appeared to be the offending entries. (As I read in a few
newsgroup responses to other people.)
4) Complete uninstall and reinstall of Office 2000.
5) Complete uninstall of Office 2000, and install of Office XP. Outlook
XP had the same problem.
6) Uninstall of Office XP, and reinstall of Office 2000.
Somewhere Outlook must be permanently storing some configuration data
that is not being removed. Where is this info being stored? It's
frustrating me to no end.
On that note, here is a bit of interesting behavior. After doing all of
this, I configure Outlook to only connect to my mailbox. When I start
Outlook, it shows only my mailbox. The others are gone, and it briefly
looks as though my cleansing efforts were successful. Then, after a
second or two, the others start popping up.
Any suggestions?
