Cannot remove Outlook data file from Navigation Pane

One of my old personal folders - an Outlook Data File reference - remains in
the Navigation Pane and cannot be removed. The file itself no longer exists
in the file system.
When I right-click on the "Archive" in the Navigation Pane and choose 'Close
"Archive"' from the context menu, the error message says:
"The operation failed. An object could not be found."
When I attempt to expand the Archive, the error message says:
"Unable to expand the folder. The set of folders could not be opened."
I have tried rebuilding my .ost from scratch, but have the same results.

Try going to Control panel-Mail-Data Files and removing it there...

Thanks, Gordon. It does not appear in that list, though it still appears in
the Navigation Pane. If there's no way to get rid of it, perhaps there's no
harm in leaving it there.

You've a damaged mail profile. Time to create a new one. Control
Panel>Mail>Show Profiles>Add.
