cannot reply to messages in Outlook 2003

I have recently purchased Office 2003 and have started using Outlook 2003
instead of Outlook Express. I can send and receive every which way EXCEPT
reply! Replied messages just sit in the outbox and cannot be sent. No error
message is received.
Help! Very frustrating.....
