Cannot reset heading number in Word 2007

N

newsbirdie2

I created my own style and I cannot get the numbering to reset /
restart for each heading section. For example,

I.
A.
B.
II
C. (should be A)

I don't see any way to do this in the menus for the style definition,
and clicking numbering -> custom -> "restart list" doesn't work
either.

Is it a bug with word 2007? I've searched the help and here and google
to no avail! I get stuff to do but it's always for previous versions
of Word and I don't even find the same menu options with 2007.

Thanks for any suggestions,
Michael

Set this up as a multi-level list and then set the restart option for the
relevant level of numbering: Click the Home tab. In the Paragraph group,
click the Multilevel list button. Click Define New Multilevel list. Once you
are looking at this dialog box, the principles of previous versions should
work (see http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html).
For example, assign a style for each level, and set the relevant restart
option.
