cannot resize table!

I am very new to Publisher 2003 and am on a tight deadline to produce a
brochure. I originally designed the brochure in Word 2003 and I've tried to
cut and paste my table and it becomes quite larger and can't be resize - it
appears to be able to, as in when I use the arrows, but once I release the
mouse button, it reverts back to the original size. I tried creating a new
table but still cannot resize. I've tried going into the cell/table
properties, but still cannot make this table smaller so that it fits into the
required space! hmmmph!

any ideas?

Tables are not the same in Publisher as they are in Word. Have you typed
anything in the cells, have you used a return (enter)? What size font are you
using? This will cause the table not to resize if the font is too big.

Have you created a table in Publisher; copied the data from Word and pasted it
into Publisher?
