Cannot save any office files to network resources

R

Rod Ahlbrandt

I've not been able to find a solution to this. Office 2007 running on Vista
ultimate I cannot save files to any network resources desptie having
Enterprise Admin privileges in a Win2k native-mode forest and local
administrator privilege.

Excel gives me the "Document not Saved" error.
Word gives me the "There has been a network or file permission error." message

The following KB Articles have not worked. 291156, 324491, 296264, 214073

This does not bode well for our adoption of either office 2007 or Vista.

Disabling offline files allows me to save to network resources, but I depend
on offline files so the solution just creates another problem.

Permissions-wise the locations on the network where I'm trying to save all
give me Full Control of the destination.

Ill take a crack...

Try this..

goto start and in the start search box type "offline files",

Open offline files and disable offline files, reboot.. does the issue
persist?

Also.. make sure the user has "delete rights" to the share as office needs
delete perms to be able to save documents because it needs to be able to
delete the temp files it creates.

Ok great..

So we have confirmed that the issue is related to Offline files being
enabled.

Supposedly, you should be able to disable offline files and then reboot..
then renable offline files and this is supposed to fix this issue. If this
doesnt work please try adding the reg key from this KB article.

Let me know how it goes.

The KB article listed as a Reg hack to clear the CSC folder worked once
before in the same situation that my company is having with a clients network
that we support, but the problem has returned again. I understand that a
this hack can be added to the GPO. Wouldn't this be considered a work-around
and not a fix? Having said that, is MS working on a "solution" to this
problem as it still seems to be an issue for many. If there is a solution to
this problem what KB refers to the actual fix and not a work-around. Thank
you for your support in this matter.

Disabling offline files worked for me too, after hours of trying
everything else. Thanks guys
