Cannot Save Document in Word

Recently I got a new MacPro and transferred all of my files over from my iMac G5. I've run into this problem trying to save documents in Microsoft Word--this only applies to the transferred files and not new ones.

Every time I alter a transferred file and try to save the new version, I am told

"The disk may be full or write-protected... make sure that the disk you want...is not full, write protected or damaged."

The computer is brand new, with a huge hard drive. Therefore, "write-protected" is the problem. I have tried to save the document under a new name, but this strategy did not work. Any suggestions... I need help!

The answer lies in "how" you transferred those files over.

It sounds as though they have come in "Owned" by the System (root) and not
you. You need to "Take Ownership" of them. Then you will be able to write
to them.

Cheers
