Cannot save file due to a permission error - HELP

M

Michael Dail

I've just started getting this call from several of my users (teachers) that
when they created a .doc and/or .docx and save it to there flashdrive or even
their harddrive, then reopen the file to make changes and they get this error
followed by the file getting converted to a ~tmp file and then it says to
"make sure the drive door is shut". We have just created new images for these
computers, they are running Office 2003 with a few select running Office 2007
and it looks like it might be a Office 2003/2007 update from MS (security)
because I cannot duplicate this problem on the older images w.o the newer
updates. I've Googled this problem and it seems alot of users are
experiencing this. Can someone help :-(

Never save a file directly to removable media. Never open a file directly
from removable media. Always work on your hard drive.

I just seems odd that this just started happening and has never happened in
the past since the new images with MS updates were put out. Nothing has
changed on the images except for MS updates and some older app's removed.

WOW, I guess I do need to go to TechNet for answers. This is not an answer
but a poor reply. Thanks for the help :-(

I'm sorry you don't like the answer but that's the answer. If it hasn't
happened before, then you are fortunate.
