Cannot save Options

Reply via e-mail preferred. Tried searching this group
for similar situaiton, but got a system error.

Word 2002, do Tools, Options, and change settings. Click
OK, restart word, and changes are gone. Also, unable to
change FILE LOCATION of STARTUP, get error message unable
to change settings.

We are on a company network, this problem seems to be
limited to one user that we know of.

I would search the users HDD and make sure that he has only 1 normal.dot. I
would also go to his Documents & Settings/Username/Local Settings/Temp and
make sure it is COMPLETELY empty. You may have to reboot the computer to
achieve this.

We cleared everything off the HDD with normal.dot, and
cleared the temp folder. Rebooted, brought up word and we
end up with the same settings. Tried changing them, &
restarted Word but it doesn't keep the same settings.


Only difference is that now it is coming up and asking if
we want to change the global template when we exit word.
Saying yes does not save the changes we made.
