cannot save, or view the open file menu

I had a virus in january of this year and since then my
excell will not save, or allow me to open the open
documents menu, i have unistalled and reinstalled office
97 several times, and tonight i even wiped out windows and
started from scratch. nothing changed at all. I need some
help on this one guys, i hope somebody has an answer for
me.
