Hello, I have installed PS2007 and all is working fine. I have imported two
test projects and all is working fine. Now that I am ready to import the
real plan to publish to the project team, I get a message that the project
cannot be saved to the server. The error given is:
The following job failed to complete. Job Type: Save - Error ID:
42(0x2A) - Error description: the project could not be saved ot the server.
Please retry saving the project. If the problem persists, save the project
as an mpp and contact adminsitrator.

Also a little red flag is displayed at the bottom of the project plan page.

Please help.

Thanks!!!

Hi

Did you ever get the fix for this problem?

I am having the same problem I did find out it is a general unhandled
exception error or it could say "Unhandled exception occurred"

I can not find the answer any place.

Jim,

I did fix the problem. It had to do with MS Project Server not accepting
certain tasks within a plan. For the most part these tasks were Summary
Tasks with 0 duration, 0 work, 0% complete, and that had a predecessor
defined at the summary task level. Obviously the lower level tasks indented
under this summary tasks were also 0 duration, o work, and 0% complete. I
had that situation because my template had all tasks set up except for amount
of work required. When I deleted these tasks the plans were imported
correctly. This was a very tedious process that took long hours prior to
going-live with project server..... it was an iterative process were I
deleted all sections of a plan and saved, if saved I added the next section
and saved, etc... until I found the sections that had problems, deleted
those problems and tried saving again..... after a while you will see the
commonality.... good luck.
