Cannot Save

Sam Dee

I have created a presentation (60mb file) in an earlier version of Power
Point . I am now trying to edit it in the 2007 version, but I cannot seem to
save any of my changes. When I try and save I get a dialogue box that comes
up that says "Press the ESC key to cancel saving the document" their is a
cancel button in this box. If I do not click on it I cannot do anything else.
I cannot close the application without saying no to saving my changes. I
don't think I am doing anything too complex it's just a 70 page
presentation, with lots of images set to some music.
Can anyone help me please - thanks

Based on this description, I'd say that PPT is saving the file as a 97-2003
file -- which can take awhile. Be patient -- start the save and then go get
a cup of coffee or something -- and see if the changes have saved once you
return.

If you applied effects to the images, and PPT is "backsaving" as a 27-2003
file, then it's saving images of images, and that will take some time.

Besides what Echo said, you might try compressing the images. This might help
the presentation to save more quickly. In PowerPoint 2007, select any image,
click the Format tab that appears, and in the Adjust group, choose Compress
Pictures.
