Cannot Scroll through Slideshow with mouse wheel

In powerpoint 2003 I could use the mouse wheel to rapidly move back and forth through a slideshow. With PP2008 the mouse wheel does nothing in slide show mode (it works fine in other modes).
I've got a presentation Monday where I'd really like to use this feature. Any one got any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi,

It appears that your observation is correct. Mouse-wheel support is not
there. Which prompts my first suggestion: Use Help > Send Feedback and
suggest to Microsoft that they add support for the mouse-wheel the way
you would like it to be.

You can use an Apple-remote if your computer came with one. Other
remotes are available, too.

Not challenging your preference in any way but I'd really like to know why
you find that technique particularly appealing. There are so many other
[IMHO] more efficient ways to navigate a presentation without the on-screen
jitter of scrolling through the slides. Just three examples: If I want to go
from slide #3 to slide #7 I'd much rather key [Command+G, 7, return] to go
directly to the slide rather than having to go through the 4 intervening
slides, Control/Right-Click & select "Go to Slide" & select by number and/or
Title, or use Page Up/Down to navigate to the previous or following slide.

Check your slide show settings.

I'm guessing that the scroll wheel may be disabled in Kiosk mode but not in "Presented by a
speaker/full screen" mode (as it is in 2003)
