Cannot see received email

I shutdown then rebooted after an "operating system could not be found"
error. Outlook 2003 had been open and would not start after the reboot. I ran
scanpst which seemed to fix the error. Outlook started just fine. But, now
when I send/receive, it looks like email is being downloaded but I cannot
find it in my Inbox or any of the folders I've created in Outlook.

I've unchecked everywhere I can find to not automatically download email
until I can figure out what's happening. Then, to test this again, I've
checked one of my 3 email accounts through web mail this morning. The email
account I care least about had 160 emails. Then, I opened Outlook (it is set
to NOT send/receive when launching) then did send/receive on just that email
account. The 160 emails did download but I don't know where they are.

In my C:\Documents and Settings\ellen\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook folder are these files with 2008 dates: Outlook.pst
(Date Modified is a few minutes ago), Outlook.bak (Date Modified is from the
day I ran scanpst.exe), Outlook.log (Date Modified is from the day I ran
scanpst.exe), and Outlook1.pst (Date Modified is from a couple days before
the day I ran scanpst.exe; I did try a few things before finding scanpst so
this may be from one of those feeble attempts).

My Outlook data files settings shows the Personal Folder is pointed to
C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst.

Where is my received email going?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
