Cannot send attachments from outbox .

windows98, outlook express 6.0. I have no problem sending e-mails with
a text but if I send an attachment when in Outlook express it will go
to the outbox and I will get a time out message . I have increased the
time out to max. and send message immediatly is enabled . However, if I
send a mail with attachment directly from Word it will go plus any that
were stuck messages in the outbox.
Also, on occasions when I exit Outlook I get a runtime error message
followed by illegal operation - MSIMN has cuased an illegal page fault
in module KERNEL32.DLL at 0187:bff9dfff.
Any ideas ?
