cannot send email

Email Client: pop

I have moved house recently and the server i am using is Earthlink. I do not wish to have an eartlink email thogh. I can receive email fine, but cannot send it, sure it's to do with the smtp thingie, is there a work around for this. I cannot keep using webmail. Earthlink have pretty much said that i need to have an earthlink email address which is just insane and limiting. Any help would be appreciated.

Yep, use the Earthlink SMTP for your accounts. Either Earthlink is
blocking access to outside SMTP servers or your other SMTP servers
require you to be connected to the Internet through them (eg; SMTP from
a previous ISP).

Corentin thanks for getting back. It is definitely the earthlink that is blocking me. How do i get round this? I know that some servers will let you send and receive but this one doesn't. I have already applied the smtp for earthlink but makes no difference, is there perhaps something in the advanced setting that i can employ?

What happened when you used the EarthLink SMTP server?

See the configuration instructions at
<http://kb.earthlink.net/case.asp?article=4015>. Note that you have to
have an EarthLink email account and you must use its authentication data
in the *Outgoing* section of Entourage, but it doesn't necessarily
prevent you from using a different email address (although it might).

Other Earthlink users are not reporting this problem.
