Cannot Send Outgoing Email

T

The Buckster

I have Office Outlook 2003 and can receive but cannot send outgoing emails.
However when I access my email through the web page of my ISP (RCN) I can
send emails - so I think the problem is with my Outlook 2003 and not my ISP.
Any help is appreciated.

I am having the same problem. I have troubleshooted as much as possible. My
ISP told me the problem was with Outlook. When calling Microsoft, they sent
me to their site to troubleshoot. This problem is still unresolved.

And, when sending, just what error message do you get from Outlook?

Did you find a fix? I have been having send problems in Outlook 2003 - off
and on - for about 2 weeks. There is no error message - outbound mail simply
settles in the Outbox forever. OS is XP Home. All updates in as far as I
know (given that I cannot access Office Updates except as a custom update of
Windows). Only new item is Norton Internet Security and I loosened all the
controls anyone suggested that might be causing the problem. Tested after
adjustments and restarts but no joy.

Is there a chance that you are trying to send e-mail on a network that is
different from the one that you are on? For example, are you at your office
and trying to send mail out using your home e-mail address? Most Exchange
servers do not allow you to relay mail from another domain through them.
This helps to prevent spammers from using your e-mail server.

Outlook was the problem - a nice techie at MS sent me instructions for a
reinstall that was a lot less of a problem than a total uninstall/reinstall.
All AOK now.
