When I go to sort a long-used spreadsheet, it flags: "This operation requires the merged cells to be identically sized". No cells have been merged or changed in size in 10 years. Does anyone know a fix? Thanks.

Well, Excel clearly thinks there is a merged cell. This may be due to
document corruption, so try SaveAs to a new doc and see if that helps.

And, of course, try actually searching thru for a merged cell, or select
theentire data region and Format/Cells see if the "merge cell" box has
a grayed checkbox, which would indicate some, but not all, of the cells
selected are in fact merged.

Well, you do indeed have merged cells somewhere. You will have to find and
fix them.

Hi,

You can quickly unmerge any cells by selecting the entire sheet and choose
Format, Cells, Alignment and check and then uncheck the Merge cells option.
