Cannot start Microsoft Office. Cannot open the Outlook Window. Outlook 2007

Failed to get the Crawl Scope Manager with error=0x8007043c. This is the
error I get in the event log.

What do I need to do to get Outlook to open? I have scanpst. I also tried
compacting the files but it just hangs.

I created a new profile and imported my PST file and Outlook works now. The
old Outlook profile will not allow Outlook to open. I am back in business!

Okay, I got help from an Information Specialist, this is what he had me do:
go to Start, Run, then type: outlook.exe/resetnavpane

That worked!

This post helped me, but I wanted to clarify something...
I have Vista and to get this to work you have to click Start, in the search
box, Type Run, then select "run" that appears in the list...Then Where it
says "Open:" Type outlook.exe /resetnavpane
There should be a space between outlook.exe and the / but no other spaces...

You can enter "outlook.exe /resetnavpane" right in the Search box. No need
for the extra step you describe.

You can also press WInKey+R to bring up the Run dialogue or add the Run
command to the Start menu by right-clicking the Start button, choosing
Properties, selecting Customize, then checking the "Run command" box.

Correct, this will not wipe out your current mailbox - it will reset the
panes and remove shortcuts such as in favorites in Mail module, and folders
you've opened using Open Shared folders.

Thanks for thsi simple tip. Its amazing how many sites offer help and give
complicated steps.

I would have nearly lost all my work and personal data. BUT thanks again ,
your tip was on the dot.

FOR OTHER USERS HERE IS WHAT DID NOT WORK , SO PLEASE DONT WASTE TIME BY
TRYING FOLLOWING STEPS.
---- going to REGEDIT and delete the profile.
--- Repairing Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 by re-installing from
original disk..

resetnavpane did not help me in the least. Almost immediately the same
"cannot start Microsoft Office..." window appeared again.
More ideas?

This tip worked for me too. I am running WIndows 7. My new computer's tech
support could not help me even with 5 calls, and Microsoft wanted me to pay
to fix the problem (maybe). Tech support said it was beyond the scope of
their knowledge. Thanks so much to all.

having this problem also. The fix works fine. When updates are installed, I
get the same message again. Is Microsoft doing anything to fix this?

I have no way of knowing whether or not Microsoft is doing anything to fix
this. Yes, it does seem to hapen frequently with updates.

Spot on. I had this error after installing N360 - well, strictly it arose
after using Norton's uninstall existing products utility. Tried restarts,
repairing MS Office. No joy.

This tip worked straight away. As soon as Outlook opened I got a dialogue
box about "a dialogue box being open" and then a dialogue box about Norton
Antispam so I suspect that caused the problem.

Anyway - sorted now - so thanks!
