Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook

I recently installed Microsoft Office Outlook. When I start it and try to
connect to the Microsoft Exchange Server the Outlook shutsdown and sends the
following message:

"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window.
The set of folders cannot be opened. The resource that you are trying to use
is located on an unsupported version of Microsoft Exchange. Contact your
e-mail administrator for assistance.:

Question, short of removing Outlook '07 and re-installing Outlook '03. Is
there another work around for this problem. Contacting my e-mail
administrator will not help as '07 is not yet a supported product in the
firms environment.

If Outlook 2007 isn't yet supported in your environment, you may be
violating company policy by trying to use it.

That said, what version of Exchange are you running? Using Outlook 2007
with Exchange V5.5 isn't supported, but Exchange 2000 and later are.

I thought that '07 was supposed to be fully compatible with '03. I would it
thought that this applied to how they interact with the Exchange server.
Unless I learn something new, I may have to remove MS Office '07 and
reinstall '03. What a waste of time. I would of thought that MS would warn
you about this problem. From the comments in this forum it looks like there
is a lot of issues related to '07 and '03 Outlook not being able to coexist.

Naturally Outlook 2003 and 2007 can coexist on the same network and access
the same Exchnage server. I never implied they couldn't, except to say that
Outlook 2007 shouldn't be used with Exchange 5.5.

Since this is Mundo's thread and your situation may not be the same as his,
please start your own thread, giving your Outlook version, your operating
syste, your mail server and account type, and a detailed description of
exactly what you're doing and exactly what happens when you do it, inclduing
the complete text of any errors that appear.

another way they are forcing us to upgrade our Exchange servers. i am
now rolling back to Outlook 2003!
