cannot start outlook 2000

Outlook 2000 has been running fine on XP for months. Today it would not start.
Can run in safe mode and have tried the "clearview" switch which does give a
fully configured Outlook but then if I shut down it will not restart. Have
tried clearing icons and resinstall of Office with no benefits.
Suggestions please.
