I have a desktop (XP2) on my Windows 2003 network on which everything was
fine. Had a hardware issue I resolved by unplugging and reconnecting the
motherboard. Then my problem really started.
The user can no longer open Outlook. At first, the error message was the
generic, "Insufficient memory or resources. Close some windows and try
again." No other apps were open, and I even stopped some non-critical
processes in Task Manager, to no effect. (I should mention this machine has
plenty of memory and a Pentium IV.)
I reinstalled Office, and then Outlook only, to no effect, except that the
error message is now Outlook specific (titled Microsoft Office Outlook) and
says only "Cannot open Microsoft Office Outlook." I get the same error in
Safe Mode.
I upgraded my user's privileges to admin level, to no effect. Maddeningly,
when I log into this machine as admin, not only will Outlook open just fine,
but I easily recreated the user's account and pointed it at her .pst file.
Get that? Only when logged in as admin will Outlook even open, and the
user's .pst is just fine.
