cannot sync entourage / iCal so can't sync calendar to iPhone (suddenly)

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

I cannot sync entourage to iCal anymore (not sure exactly when it started but some time in last few weeks). Using most recent versions with all updates of both programs (OSX 10.5.5, iCal 3.0.5, Entourage 12.1.4).

If I add an appointment to the "entourage" calendar in iCal it disappears after a few seconds (presumably when it goes to sync over to Entourage). When I add items in Entourage nothing comes over to iCal.

Result is that I can no longer sync my Entourage calendar to my iPhone. Is anyone having any luck solving this? And does anyone know why many or most are NOT having this problem but some of us are? I have friends with the same basic configurations share are not having this issue. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

FYI, I have followed previous advice on boards to refresh the iCal plist file and to clear the calendar cache with no improvement in the situation.

Try turning syncing off then back on. It often does the trick,

Thanks for the input Corentin. That didn't work.

As I mentioned, I tried deleting the core iCal files which would have deleted my iCal entourage calendar and presumably all my appointments over in Entourage if I hadn't turned off sync first. In any case, I've turned sync off and on, restarted everything in between, etc.

Nothing "conventional" is helping. If you have any other thoughts, please let me know. My iPhone is nearly a brick without my calendar (yes, I still have a phone but it's a dumb phone without my calendar).

thanks again, Matt

True,

Lots of people have SyncServices issue. For some reason, it looks like
it settled down on my own Mac, but it could be just luck at this point.

Another possibility would be to play around with Syncrospector (part of
the Developper tools from MacOS X - free with a free ADC account).

I suspect that in one of the repositories there is a corruption that
blocks the whole process. For some it gets the Syn daemon to use 100% of
the CPU, for others (like you) it simply prevents all sync.
The nightmare is to figure out what's causing that and to remove it :-(
