Cannot synchronize mails in MS Outlook

MS Outlook 2002 used to work fine. But now when i try to send/receive mails
from my hotmail account, it stops and the authentication (user / password)
window and does not allow me to send / receive. I have changed my account
type to MSN from Hotmail in the account setup, but that did not help. PLs
suggest.
